We want you to be happy with HitCounters. If you're not, ask for a refund — we'd rather give you your money back than have you grumbling about us.
The short version
- 30-day money-back guarantee on your first paid charge for a site. No questions asked.
- Pro-rated refunds on cancellation: when you downgrade or cancel, unused subscription time is credited or refunded proportionally.
- Annual plans: the 30-day guarantee still applies. After 30 days, we'll pro-rate the unused portion of the year.
How to request a refund
Email support with:
- The email on your HitCounters account
- The site domain in question (or "all sites")
- The Stripe invoice/charge ID if you have it
- (Optional but appreciated) A short note on what wasn't working — helps us fix it
We process refunds within 2 business days. Stripe takes another 5-10 business days to credit the card.
What we don't refund
- Charges older than 30 days where the subscription was used (paid sites with traffic running through them all month).
- Affiliate commissions paid out to your PayPal — those go to your affiliates, not us.
- Charges from other payment methods that aren't ours (Google Workspace, your domain registrar, etc. — not our problem).
If something genuinely broke
If we had an outage, lost data, or something went measurably wrong on our end — the 30-day window doesn't matter. Tell us and we'll make it right.
Cancelling without refund
You can downgrade any site to Free at any time on the Sites page. The active subscription continues until the end of the current billing period (you keep the features), then drops to Free. No new charges. Your data stays.
Account-level cancellation
To close your entire account: cancel all paid subscriptions, then email support with "Close my account" and the email on the account. We delete everything within 30 days. (Verify-email tokens, password reset tokens, and login logs are deleted immediately.)
