Creating your account

HitCounters is free to start — no credit card required. Here's the whole process:

Sign up

  1. Go to hitcounters.com/register.php.
  2. Enter your email, a username, and a password (8+ characters).
  3. Complete the security challenge and click Create Account.

Verify your email

We send a verification link to your email immediately. Click it within 24 hours to activate your account. Without verification, you can't log in or add sites.

Didn't get the email? Check spam, then visit /resend-verification.php to send a new one.

What happens next

Once verified, you're logged in and ready to go. The next step is to add your first site.

One account, many sites

You don't need a separate account per website. One HitCounters account can track unlimited sites — bloggers typically have 1-3, agencies often have 30+. Each site has its own dashboard and (optionally) its own subscription tier.

Username and email rules

  • Email: any valid address. We block ~30 disposable email providers (mailinator etc.) to cut spam.
  • Username: 3-30 characters, letters/numbers/underscores only. Shown on the dashboard and in invitations to team members.
  • Password: 8 characters minimum. Stored hashed (bcrypt). Use a password manager — we'll never email it back to you.
